E-Z Bake Anyone?

August 7th, 2008 | by Tammie |

Does anyone remember the e-z bake oven? It was one of my favorite toys growing up. I still remember the smell and taste of those delightful little chocolate cakes. I loved pulling the little tray out with the spatula! My sister, who is ten years older, would save up her allowance money so she could buy me e-z bake supplies. So I couldn’t wait to buy my daugher her e-z bake. My sister actually bought it for her! We had such fond memories of that together. However, buy the time my daughter got her oven she had already been baking with me for awhile. Somehow the appeal of a tiny little cake baked didn’t win out over a pan full of muffins or decorating sugar cookies. We baked a thing or two and then it got pushed to the back of the cabinet. Did anyone else have an e-z bake? What was your favorite childhood toy? Remember the Chrissy Doll with hair that pulled out and went back or the Bionic Woman Barbie Doll whose armed flipped open to show her bionics! I miss those things!

Wow! E-Z Bake! It was my favorite! I can relate. I wanted to be a ballerina so the Dancerina doll was very special to me. Also anything having to do with Moegli (sp?) and the Jungle Book! I wanted to be the vicious tiger, Shearcon. Remember Gumbi? Loved him/her. I don’t remember whether he/she was a boy or girl!

Yep - I had the Easy Bake too. And so did my daughter. In fact, I think hers is still in one of my kithchen cabinets!

I also over the years had a snow cone machine - a cotton candy machine - and a soda fountain. (All miniature and all more trouble than they were worth looking back on it, but fun for a while). My daughter had an ice cream maker. Again, too much work for one little tiny bit of ice cream.

I think Paula and I must be about the same age because I had all those toys, too. I loved them all. I liked those “Creepy Crawlers?” that we baked in the oven.

Oh I forgot about Creepy Crawlers. Actually it was my cousin who had those but we played with them together.

Oh, and did you have ’shrink art’? That was fun too!

No, I don’t think so, but I did love Mouse Trap and something like spiral art? You had these wheels and you pinned them down or something like that…with colored pens. What was that?
